Moving Forward

One of my favorite songs is “Moving Forward” by Israel Houghton in it he states “I’m not going back, I’m moving ahead. Here to declare to You, my past is over in You all things are made new, surrendered my life to Christ. I moving, moving forward.” Every day is a new chance to move forward. Choose to move forward by the power of Christ. “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

LIE#6: I am trapped.

TRUTH #6: I am moving forward.

Let Go of the Past

Many times I have let regrets about past decisions paralyze me and keep me from making present changes. I would remember how this situation or  that position or relationship did not work out. I would look back at past mistakes  instead of looking forward to what God wants to work in me now. If I keep looking back there is no way to move forward. Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 (AMP) ” but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.” I must daily make a choice to forget about the past and let it go. God is not looking over my shoulder at everything I have done wrong. Instead He sees me as clean and whole in Christ. He sees me as the precious woman of faith and courage that He created me to be. He sees me living an abundant life free from the past. It is up to me to grab hold of all He is offering, To speak life and truth over my life and my future.

LIE #5: I am doomed to repeat the mistakes of my past.

TRUTH #5: I have the mind of Christ and I make Spirit-led decisions from a position of strength an courage. The past is gone the new has come. I am a new creation capable of making choices that will bring honor to God.

Everything Is Going To Be All Right

Today I attended the memorial service of a dear sweet beautiful girl I knew in high school. She was greatly loved by the many people who were touched by her love for Jesus, her amazing voice, and ability to encourage others. She will be missed in more ways than I can express. After attending the service I struggled with the effort to fast from speaking negative words when it seemed so tragic that one with so much to give died so young. She had not experienced some of the deepest desires of her heart in the form of a loving marriage and children. Yet she was always proud to be called a “Jesus Freak.”  She loved God in the midst of the good and the bad.

I found myself questioning the truth of my first post. Did God not fulfill His promise to her? Had he begun a good work in her left incomplete? The answer is “no” because he provided for her, was with her, never left her. She is now whole and complete, perfect in every way. She will no longer experience pain or defeat. As her memorial video stated she is free. God is faithful and always does what He says He will do. Thank you God for revealing your truth to me today in an unexpected way. Through tears comes understanding and peace. Each experience is another chance to know and love you better.

“I, Jude, am a slave to Jesus Christ and brother to James, writing to those loved by God the Father, called and kept safe by Jesus Christ. Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way!” Jude 1-2 (MSG)

I will trust that God’s word is true. It is going to be all right. It is all coming together. I can open my heart again because love is on the way!

LIE#4: My life is never going to improve.

TRUTH#4: My life is in God’s hands. He is working all things together for my good. He is improving me and my life daily.  I trust His word that everything’s going to be all right; everything’s coming together; and love is on the way!

Righteousness

Today I was reminded that God is for me! See http://nourishthedream.com/2011/06/22/if-god-is-for-you/. It is confirmation of yesterday’s truth and the necessity of holding on to the truth of God’s Word NO MATTER WHAT.  I must daily speak God’s truth about who I am and what I am called to do. For the rest of today I will focus on expecting  God’s  favor and accepting His unceasing love for me.

LIE #2: I am not good enough to please god.

Truth #2 I am the righteousness of  God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Fasting Challenge

Today is the 1st day of the best of my life. I am embarking on a 40 day challenge of changed thinking and changed speaking. Every day from June 22, 2011 to July 31, 2011 I will be sharing my progress even if it is only one sentence.  In the wee hours of this morning I spent time doing an exercise where I wrote down the lies (in pencil) that  I have told myself in the areas of spirituality, money, health, and relationships. Then I wrote the truth about who I am and what God’s Word says is true (in red ink). So far I have only written four for each quadrant; but many more lies have been told and will be defeated. For the next 7 days I will be reading the lie and then the truth to reprogram my thinking. After 7 days I will erase the lies and all I will have left is the truth.

LIE #1: I am not really important to God, therefore He is not paying attention to my needs.

TRUTH#1: God loves me and cares about me so much that even the number of hairs on my head are numbered. He made me in His image for a purpose and is concerned with all things that concern me. Jehovah Shammah is with me all ways at all times waiting for me to acknowledge him

Acceptable Words

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 (NKJV).

Acceptable words are words that are good and life giving. These types of words do not tear down, but the buildup, they encourage, and uplift. Acceptable words are pleasing and sustaining. They are words that bring a smile to the face of the hearer. Whether the hearer be you, your spouse, your child, your friend, or your co-worker; we want our words to be pleasing to the LORD. Secondly, we want the thoughts that continually churn in our heads to be pleasing. That means focusing our thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8) When we think of these things and praise God for them we don’t have time to worry and fret.

Choose today what you will say and what you will think about! Thank God for every blessing no matter the size.

The peace of Christ be with you,

Lizzy Cate
